Rent an Athletic Field
About Rent an Athletic Field
The City of Rockville offers premier and non-premier athletic fields for community and league use. All field rentals require a permit and a valid Certificate of Insurance (COI).
Insurance Requirements
To rent any athletic field, the following insurance coverage must be provided and approved. The insurance policy must be issued by a licensed Maryland carrier.
- General Liability Coverage: Minimum of $1,000,000 per occurrence.
- Participant Accident Coverage: At least $25,000.
- Additional Insured: Must name the Mayor and Council of Rockville, and all officers, officials, and employees. Endorsements must be submitted along with the COI.
- Certificate Holder: Mayor and Council of Rockville, Rockville City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave., Rockville, MD 20850.
- Policy Cancellation: Requires 30 days’ written notice to the city’s Safety and Risk Management Division.
Rent a Premier Field
Two premier fields are available at each of Broome Athletic Park, Dogwood Park, and Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park. Premier fields are fenced, locked, and professionally maintained to support structured, high-quality league play.
Permits are required and fields are available for individuals or organizations only when city-sponsored leagues, activities, or events are not scheduled. Priority is given to city programs, partners, and field maintenance, then historical annual users, then new applicants.
Rent a Non-Premier Field
Non-premier fields are open, public-use spaces available for reservation through the Rec1 registration system. A valid permit and approved insurance are required. Follow the steps below to rent a non-premier field.
Standard field rules apply. All users must clean up after use, follow city regulations, and comply with closures or cancellations due to weather or maintenance.
- Register a Rec1 account at www.rockvillemd.gov/registration.
- Email your COI to sports@rockvillemd.gov.
- Upon insurance approval, a flag will be added to your Rec1 account, which enables you to request field rentals. Log in to Rec1 and click on the “Facility & Park Pavilion Rentals” tab at the top to browse available fields. Select a park and a field, then submit a request for a date and time.
- Sports Division staff will approve or deny the request. If approved, a payment invoice will be sent. Once payment is received, the permit will be issued via Rec1.
