Wildlife Problem?

City of Rockville references Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) offer information and help on wildlife problems:
Do Your Part to Deter Wildlife
Area wildlife helps maintain a healthy ecosystem but can become a nuisance. Here’s a few ways you can learn to live with, and discourage, wildlife.
- Taste or odor repellent are humane forms of control designed to repel deer and wildlife from an area. You can find repellents at sporting goods stores.
 - Plant deer-resistant native plants.
 - Install fencing and physical barriers where possible.
 - Encourage deer and wildlife to leave the area.
 - Do not feed wildlife as it can do more harm than good. (Long-term deer feeding)

Deer Problem? Report It
Rockville is a member of the Montgomery County Deer Working Group, sharing and obtaining assistance and information regarding deer management from the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the National Park Service. As of April 2021, the city no longer conducts deer population management, but staff will continue efforts to be aware of local changes that may require future actions to manage deer within the community.
More information about techniques to prevent and/or reduce deer damage on your property is available through the Montgomery County Cooperative Extension Service at 301-590-9638 or the Nuisance Animal Information line at 1-877-463-6497 (Maryland residents only).
