National Recovery Month & Opioid Awareness

During September, the lights at several city facilities, including the Rockville City Police Department, will shine purple as part of the Rockville Goes Purple campaign. This coincides with National Recovery Month, which raises awareness of opioid addiction and its impact on communities, and highlights prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction resources.

Throughout the fall season, the Mayor and Council, the City of Rockville, and the Rockville City Police Department will host events to educate about the warning signs of opioid misuse and provide resources for prevention and recovery support.

The RCPD and Tree of Hope will partner to offer a free Community Naloxone (Narcan) Training event at the Lincoln Park Community Center, 357 Frederick Ave., from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026. Free hands-on training will be available for up to 50 people on a first-come, first-served basis for the use of Narcan, a medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

As part of the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, the RCPD will collect leftover and expired prescription drugs at the Rockville City Police Department from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026.

The Montgomery County Crisis Center is open 24 hours and offers walk-in services. It is located at 1301 Piccard Drive in Rockville, and has telephone crisis services at 240-777-4000. Maryland’s Office of Overdose Response offers resources for the prevention, treatment, and recovery from opioids as well as other prescription and street drugs. Additionally, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline offers free and confidential support for people experiencing mental health or substance use emergencies by calling or texting 9-8-8.

Custodial Arrests

• 9/2/26, a male, age 37, was arrested on an outstanding warrant through the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for assault at the Rockville City Police Station.
• 9/3/26, a male, age 17, was arrested for attempted theft from auto and rogue and vagabond in the 1700 Blk. Chapman Avenue.
• 9/4/26, three females, ages 47, 23, and 22, were arrested for assault and disorderly conduct in the 2000 Blk. Baltimore Road.
• 9/4/26, a male, age 42, was arrested on two outstanding bench warrants at the Rockville City Police Station.
• 9/5/26, a male, age 18, was arrested for attempted auto theft in the 200 Blk. Rollins Avenue.
• 9/7/26, a male, age 16, was arrested for shoplifting in the 1600 Blk. Rockville Pike.

Incidents

• 700 Blk. Rockville Pike, a known subject assaulted the victim between 11:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. on 9/1/26. The suspect has been charged.
• 100 Blk. Rollins Avenue, an unknown subject contacted the victim via WhatsApp numerous times between 9/1/24 and 9/1/26 and fraudulently obtained personal funds.
• 100 Blk. Monroe Street, an unknown subject contacted the victim and claimed the victim had missed jury duty, but promised the victim could avoid prosecution if she sent funds via money orders to the suspect between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on 9/1/26.
• 1500 Blk. Rockville Pike, a known subject stole merchandise from a business at 11:50 p.m. on 9/1/26. Victim was referred for charging.
• 600 Blk. Rockville Pike, an unknown subject obtained a loan with a bank using fraudulent ID and wired funds to unknown accounts between 6/16/26 and 9/2/26.
• 1300 Blk. Rockville Pike, an unknown subject stole cash from the register of a business at 2:26 p.m. on 9/2/26.
• 300 Blk. Croydon Avenue, an unknown subject had fraudulently obtained access to the victim’s credit information since 2014.
• 1600 Blk. Rockville Pike, an unknown subject stole merchandise from a business at 7:04 p.m. on 9/2/26.
• 200 Blk. N. Horners Lane, an unknown subject contacted the victim claiming to be law enforcement and fraudulently obtained personal funds. between 8/11/26 and 9/2/26. Incident reported on 9/3/26.
• Unit Blk. Preserve Parkway, an employee reported at 10:11 a.m. on 9/3/26 that four windows of a business parking garage were broken on an unknown date.
• Unit Blk. Helen Heneghan Way, two unknown subjects stole personal property at approx. 5:11 a.m. on 9/4/26.
• 200 Blk. N. Washington Street, a known subject assaulted the victim when an argument escalated between 2:00 a.m. and 9:02 a.m. on 9/4/26. The victim was referred for charges and obtaining a protection order.
• 500 Blk. College Parkway, a known subject assaulted the victim between 6/15/26 and 7/31/26. Incident reported: 9/4/26. The victim was referred for charges.
• 200 Blk. Rollins Avenue, an unknown subject attempted to steal 2022 Kia Sedona by punching the ignition between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on 9/4/26.
• 700 Blk. Rockville Pike, an unknown subject stole a bicycle from a bicycle rack that was unsecured from the victim’s vehicle between 11:30 a.m. and 12:31 p.m. on 9/5/26.
• 400 Blk. Redland Boulevard, an unknown subject stole personal property from the victim’s purse in the checkout of a business at 11:18 a.m. on 9/5/26.
• 200 Blk. Rollins Avenue, an unknown subject attempted to steal 2022 Kia Sorento by punching the ignition between 1:05 a.m. and 1:35 p.m. on 9/5/26.
•   200 Blk. Richard Montgomery Drive, an unknown subject burglarized an unsecured school at 9:51 p.m. on 9/6/26.
• Unit Blk. Preserve Parkway, an unknown male left a restaurant without paying for the meal at approx. 2:55 p.m. on 9/7/26.
