Rockville to Study City Bus Stop Seating
July 1, 2026
Rockville is launching a citywide study to determine the costs and work required to install seating at every bus stop in the city.
The study will evaluate different types of seating and accessibility requirements, and whether additional space would be needed around individual bus stops. The findings will help the city consider the design, construction and funding involved in expanding bus seating throughout Rockville.
The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ Transportation-Land Use Connections Program is funding the project. City staff will work with MWCOG this summer to select a consultant, with the study expected to begin this fall.
