Become a Student Ambassador
About Become a Student Ambassador
Rockville’s Human Rights Commission accepts 10 students in grades 10-12 to volunteer as student ambassadors in its annual Student Ambassador Program. Student ambassadors serve as liaisons between the Human Rights Commission and their high schools.
The program accepts two students each from Richard Montgomery, Rockville, and Thomas S. Wootton high schools, and four students who attend other Rockville high schools or who live in Rockville but attend high schools outside Rockville. Student Service Learning (SSL) hours are available.
Student ambassadors serve eight-month terms from October to June. Their duties include:
- Participating in Human Rights Commission meetings and teleconferences.
- Assisting the Human Rights Commission in planning and executing programs and initiatives,
including promotion, volunteer recruitment, fundraising, and other activities.
- Providing suggestions and feedback on ways to improve Human Rights Commission programs
 and initiatives.
The application deadline for the October 2025 – June 2026 term was Oct. 24, 2025. The application process for the October 2026 – June 2027 term will open in the summer of 2026.
