The 2026 Fall Tree Giveaway will open for pre-registration at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1 on this webpage. City residents may reserve one free tree per household and pick up on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Taft Center, 6 Taft Court.
Six species are expected to be available. This list is subject to change based on nursery availability. Species preferences cannot be guaranteed:
- Alleghany serviceberry (Amelanchier laevis)
- American hornbeam (Carpinus caroliniana)
- Carolina rose (Rosa carolina)
- Common ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius)
- Eastern redbud (Cercis canadensis)
- Red chokeberry (Photinia pyrifolia)

Looking for other ways to get trees? The RainScapes Rebate Program offers rebates of up to $150 per native tree to single-family and townhouse residences, homeowners associations, condominium associations, and nonprofits in the City of Rockville.
