The Teens & Adventure Sports Division provides youth and teens with fun indoor and outdoor activities throughout the year. We strive to nurture community connections for the youth and teens in our community and to provide a space for them to be themselves and spend time with their friends.

Teen Programs

Teens on the Go (Ages 11-16)

This fun summer program is for youth entering grades 6-11, held Monday-Friday, June 21–Aug. 12. Teens are picked up and dropped off daily at one location to attend various trips and events. This Summer, we have NEW and EXCITING trips planned all week long. Monday through Friday your child well be out and about on fun, safe and adventurous trips. Payment plans and financial assistance are available. One week before each trip, an itinerary with specific information will be emailed to each participant.

Future Leaders Camp (Ages 13-15)

Future Leaders Camp is open to teens looking to have fun while learning leadership skills. FLC provides fun, interactive workshops, games, and activities to prepare teens to volunteer and/or work in a camp setting (or their first job). Workshops include communication, teamwork, leadership activities, and more. A team-building trip is included in the cost. Participants also have the opportunity to earn up to 20 SSL hours at a City of Rockville program. FLC participants are given priority after returning LLITs during the LIT placement process. The Future Leaders Camp and LIT program are job training, thus, participants are placed where needed, not always where participants request. Payment plans and financial assistance are available.

Leaders in Training (L.I.T) Program (Ages 14-16) 

A Leader-in-Training (L.I.T.) is a volunteer aged 14 to 16, trained and assigned to a summer campsite. The LI.T.'s role is to assist the summer camp staff in the daily program operations. L.I.T.s will have the opportunity to work in the areas of games, sports, arts and crafts, and many other recreational activities. To become a LIT, you must attend and complete the Future Leaders Camp. Once you complete the camp, you will receive an invitation the following summer to join the LIT program.

Adventure Sports

Friday Night Ski Club (6th - 12th Grade)

Head to Ski Liberty in the comfort of a coach bus every Friday night for five weeks. Trip dates are 1/13, 1/20, 1/27, 2/3, and 2/10 (2/17 rain date). The fee includes supervision and bus transportation. Ski packages must be purchased directly through Liberty Mountain Resorts. Pick-up and drop-off is at Robert Frost Middle School. We will leave Robert Frost at 3:30 pm and will arrive back at 11 pm. Spots will fill up fast. We hope to see you with us!

Staff and Kids

Rock-Ventures (Ages 8-15)

Want your kids to spend time outside? Sign them up for our daylong Rock-Ventures program as we take a trip around Maryland with rock climbing, mountain biking, ropes courses, and more! The program runs on days when Montgomery County Public Schools are closed. Participants are broken up into two groups based on age and transportation provided.

Rockville Skate Camp (Ages 7-14)

Learn to skateboard or improve your skills. Join Rockville's crew as you learn to push, ride, ollie, kick-flip, grind and drop in. Skate park etiquette and safety is a priority. Skaters must bring a skateboard, helmet, knee and elbow pads, wrist guards, water, and snack. After a great skateboarding session, cool off for a few hours at the Rockville pool. This camp is weather dependent. Any missed dates will be made up on Friday.

Skateboard Group & Private Lessons (Ages 6+)

Learn how to skate at our brand-new Rockville Skatepark! Learn the basics or practice your tricks with experienced Rockville skaters once a week. Lessons will be 50 minutes once a week for five weeks. Classes will be weather dependent. Please check the weather line for closure updates. For private lessons, call 240-314-8639.

Rockville Skate Park (All Ages)

The Rockville Skate Park is officially open for community use, featuring concrete ramps, bowls, and rails.

The 15,000-square-foot concrete skate park features a kidney bowl, manual pads, quarter pipes, radius wedge, rainbow grind rail, grind ledge, slappy curb, and pole. It is designed to be fun for every rider, regardless of age, style, skill level, or wheel type.

Key elements of the new park include:

  • street and park elements, obstacles, and terrain.
  • modernized infrastructure and amenities
  • family/gender-neutral restroom
  • stormwater management facility
  • reconfigured parking lot to maintain the same parking spaces in the Rockville Swim and Fitness center complex.
