After a national call for proposals and competitive review process, the sculpture “Shared Passage” by CJRDesign was selected as a major feature for the David Scull Park Improvement Project. The fabrication and installation of the 18′ tall, 25′ wide steel sculpture with colorful acrylic panels will be coordinated with the project schedule.

Rendering of “Shared Passage” by CJRDesign. “Shared Passage” will be installed at the entrance of the park to welcome and engage visitors. Community engagement opportunities will be announced for residents of David Scull and East Rockville in fall 2027 and will guide the artist in creating the final details in the sculpture such as how the colorful acrylic panels will be arranged, the arrangement of the arches, and a solar lighting option. The sculpture is funded through the Incorporation of Works of Art in Public Architecture program managed by the city’s Arts and Culture Program staff.
