After School Programs
The Recreation and Parks Department has a variety of affordable, high-quality after school programs for students in grades K-10. Each program has well-trained staff that plans a fun and active program including snack, homework help and more to round out the day.
Programs are canceled when MCPS after school activities are canceled due to weather or other emergencies.
Beyond the Bell After School Club
3:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Thomas Farm Community Center
Enjoy time beyond the bell at Thomas Farm’s new afterschool club! Engage in enrichment activities, organized games and crafts. Homework help and a healthy snack are provided daily. Bus transportation from Ritchie Park Elementary is provided. Program operates when school is in session and on early release days. The program does not operate on no school days.
After School Adventure
3 - 6:30 p.m.
Twinbrook Community Recreation Center
This program provides children with a safe and fun environment. Computer lab, crafts, organized games and other enrichment activities are offered. Transportation is provided from Meadow Hall Elementary School and Twinbrook Elementary School. Program operates when school is in session for full day; does not meet on early release days.
Twinbrook After School Club
3:50 - 6:30 p.m.
Twinbrook Elementary School
Activities focus on recreation, arts, fitness and cultural exploration. Children will have fun and make discoveries through arts, crafts, games and physical exercise. Homework help is available and a snack is provided. This program meets on all school days including early release days; and does not meet on non-school days.
Early Birds
7 - 9:30 a.m.
Twinbrook Community Recreation Center
This morning program offers children a safe and fun environment. Computer lab, crafts, organized games and other enrichment activities are offered. Transportation is provided to Twinbrook Elementary School. This program meets on all school days including early release days; and does not meet on non-school days. An optional daily drop-in fee of $10 is available.
Clubhouse After School
3:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Lincoln Park Community Center
Children spend time learning, creating and exploring during this drop-in, after school program. Homework time, snacks, crafts and games are scheduled daily. Clubhouse is not held on MCPS non-school days but is open on half days. All children must be picked up by 6:30 p.m. Extra charges apply for late pick-ups. MCPS Bus transportation is provided from Maryvale, College Gardens, and Beall elementary schools to Lincoln Park Community Center (afternoon drop-off only). All other local schools students are transported by MCPS request.
Teen Scene
3 - 6:30 p.m.
Twinbrook Community Recreation Center
For 5-8 grade students. Participants will have study time and can choose from a wide range of recreational activities with guidance and supervision by staff members. Transportation is available from Julius West and Wood MS and Twinbrook and Meadow Hall ES. Program does not meet on MCPS non-school or early release days.
